What is the program?

The Costa Rica- Spain Triangular Cooperation Program is an instrument used for the transfer of technologies, methodologies, knowledge and experience by Costa Rican institutions, and government agencies to different organizations or public agencies in third countries that are also in development.

How does it work?

The grant recipient and responsible for the implementation of the Program is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MRREEC) who has the support of the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy (MIDEPLAN). The Triangular Cooperation Program Costa Rica - Spain runs through phases devoted to specific themes. Each phase opens the call for project proposals with potential technical cooperation. The requests are submitted to the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship through a special form or format. They must meet a number of requirements, among which is to clearly identify the persons in charge of the execution of the project in the beneficiary country and in Costa Rica. Phase III

General Information The objective of the third phase of the Costa Rica-Spain Triangular Cooperation Program is to support the transfer of knowledge and experience from Costa Rica to countries in Latin America and the Caribbean in the areas of the environment and climate change. All organizations and public institutions in the countries of the region that may be interested in participating are invited to present proposals. The Program will select and finance those proposals that best meet the established criteria. Background

I Phase On January 26, 2007 the Final Act of the Ninth Hispanic-Costa Rican Mixed Commission for Cooperation held in San José was signed. In the framework of the Joint Commission, the parties "reaffirmed their commitment to the consensus reached at the International Conference on Financing for Development" (Monterrey, Mexico, 2002), particularly with the theme of "Strengthening cooperation and triangular cooperation South-South, as instruments for mobilizing technical assistance among countries with similar levels of development” (Chapter I: Introduction Cooperation between Spain and Costa Rica, fifth paragraph).
